LSU continued to succeed in the transfer portal Monday, this time bringing back a player the Tigers thought they were losing when running back Caden Durham reportedly withdrew his name from the portal.
CBS Sports reported that Durham, who piled up 1,609 scrimmage yards the last two seasons at LSU, informed Tigers coaches of his desire to return to Baton Rouge for his junior season.
Durham led LSU in rushing last season with 111 carries for 505 yards and three touchdowns while dealing with a lower-body injury during the second half of the season. He also caught 16 passes for 91 yards. Durham’s 2024 campaign was even better, as he rumbled for 753 yards on 140 carries with six touchdowns as well as notching 28 receptions for 260 yards and two touchdowns.
The 5-foot-9, 205-pound Durham was contacted by several programs while in the portal but did not take any reported visits. As it stands, LSU now has both Durham and talented rising sophomore Harlem Berry as returners with experience.
LSU and Ole Miss swapped running back coaches after the season was complete, with Frank Wilson now on the Rebels’ staff and Kevin Smith is staying with Lane Kiffin on the Tigers’ staff.
