Caden Durham initially didn’t appear as if he’d be in the plans of Lane Kiffin at LSU after entering the transfer portal on Jan. 3. But that might change.
Durham, after totaling 1,258 yards and nine touchdowns across the last two seasons in Baton Rouge, entered the portal after Frank Wilson, the Tigers’ popular running backs coach and former interim head coach, went to Ole Miss. Now, LSU is looking to hold on to the sophomore. According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, LSU staff will meet with Durham on Saturday amid reported interest from “other high-end teams.”
Durham’s impact on the Tigers’ offense was immediate. He ran for a team-high 753 yards and six touchdowns as a true freshman in 2024. That included a three-touchdown performance against Arkansas. He was also an asset in the passing game, posting 260 yards and two touchdowns.
While his production dipped in 2025, and while he wasn’t utilized much as a receiver, Durham still led the team in rushing with 505 yards.
The Tigers have already landed one running back out of the transfer portal, signing Utah redshirt freshman Raycine Guillory. But convincing Durham to return to Death Valley in 2026 appears to be a renewed priority for Kiffin and his staff.
