Cal fans are ecstatic to be hosting College GameDay for the first time in program history.
The Golden Bears have gotten off to a hot start in their 1st season as an ACC school. That made the school an easy choice for GameDay as No. 8 Miami heads to town.
While some may have questioned GameDay choosing a city like Berkeley, the fans made sure that nobody can doubt the decision now. At midnight, many Cal fans were already waiting at the set of GameDay, with a large group of fans breaking through the fences to stake claim to their spots.
GameDay didn’t even start until 6 a.m. PT, so these fans arrived at least 6 hours early.
UPDATE: The second wave of Cal fans have broken through the fences and this crowd is in the thousands at midnight. UC Berkeley has maintained their commitment to open borders!

Humorously, Avinash Kunnath of Write for Cal joked that “Berkeley has maintained their commitment to open borders,” as the fans stormed the barricade.
This shows the power of college football and how, no matter where you’re from, College GameDay is an experience.
The Golden Bears showed up, now we’ll have to see if their team can do the same. It will be a tough task as No. 8 Miami comes into town with a perfect record. Both Miami and Cal have played 1 conference game, with the Canes beating Virginia Tech and the Bears falling to Florida State.
These new ACC rivals will kick off at 10:30 p.m. ET from Berkeley.
