A lot has been made about Jalen Hurts’ role in the Alabama offense, and it is hard to deny that he is the driving force of the Crimson Tide.
Despite a talented backfield that features Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough, the young QB remains the heart and soul of the Crimson Tide offense. Hurts actually leads the team in rushing attempts and is second on the team in rushing yards while scoring eight touchdowns on the ground.
Hurts is definitely a threat with his legs, but it is his work and improvement in the passing game that has helped him take his game to the next level this season. Star WR Calvin Ridley believes Hurts’ improvements as a passer also helped the team move past some of its limitations from last season.
ESPN’s Chris Low shared video of Ridley’s comments:

Despite throwing for more than 2,000 yards with just one interception this season, Hurts has continued to experience some criticism in regards to his throwing game. The criticism of Hurts is one thing that OL Jonah Williams said he has a hard time comprehending.
“I don’t know how you sit there and critique people when you don’t understand what they’re doing,” said Williams, “And most people don’t.”
Ben Jones shared shared a screenshot of Williams’ complete comments concerning the criticism of Hurts:
Hurts has definitely improved this season, and the Crimson Tide will need him to be at his best in order to take home a national championship.
