Caylin Newton is officially taking his football career to a new school.
The younger brother of former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, Caylin has been at Howard the past three seasons. He played in four games this year before deciding to redshirt and enter the NCAA transfer portal, which he announced on Twitter on Tuesday:

In 25 games at Howard, Newton has passed for 5,876 yards, 41 touchdowns and 32 interceptions while rushing for 380 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was named the 2019 MEAC Preseason Player of the Year and was expected to have a big season for the Bison.
Newton, who was the 2018 MEAC Offensive Player of the Year, is taking advantage of the redshirt rule by becoming a graduate transfer with two years of remaining eligibility.
Newton was a 3-star recruit out of Atlanta, but he didn’t have a ton of interest from big schools. However, that could likely change this time after he increased his value with a few strong seasons at Howard.
