Cam Ward, major QB in Transfer portal, reveals plans for 2024

Cam Ward’s time in college football is done.
After 2 seasons at Washington State, Ward announced in a brief video on social media that he is indeed headed for the 2024 NFL Draft instead of transferring to a new program. He entered the portal at the beginning of December and was widely regarded as one of the top quarterbacks and overall players available.
Ward was reportedly a key target for programs such as Miami and Florida State out of the ACC while Auburn was also reportedly in contact with the QB recently. Instead, he’ll look to make the jump to the NFL after 4 total seasons in college football.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Ward’s father, Calvin, says the QB will not immediately sign with an agent. However, Cam’s draft training will begin Tuesday with notable trainer Will Hewlett.

Ward began his career with 2 seasons for FCS-level Incarnate Word, capturing the 2021 Jerry Rice Award as the most outstanding freshman in FCS football. He was a second-team FCS All-American as a sophomore before making the jump to Washington State.
While with the Cougars, Ward completed 65.5% of his passes and threw for nearly 7,000 yards with 48 touchdowns to 16 interceptions. He also delivered 13 rushing touchdowns and contributed some memorable moments to the program.
