The Carolina Panthers have whittled their roster down to 53 players, and now a pair of Georgia rookies have learned their fates.
Per a release from the team, seventh round pick WR Terry Godwin has been waived, while undrafted free agent RB Elijah Holyfield is still with the team through the preseason.
Holyfield left Georgia a year early to test the draft waters, and while he didn’t get selected in the 2019 draft, he has secured a 53-man roster spot for the 2019 season.
Meanwhile, Godwin is now on waivers, and we’ll see if he gets picked up by another NFL squad before the season begins.
There’s also a chance he could end up on Carolina’s (or another team’s) practice squad.
