Carson Beck wants to win a national championship as a starting quarterback at Georgia, and the chance to do that this season was teetering as he took the helm on Saturday night in Athens against Tennessee. The Bulldogs entered Saturday’s game with 2 losses and could not afford a 3rd.

Then Beck went out and dominated against a really good Volunteers defense, revived Georgia’s season and was justly rewarded on Monday by being named the Reese’s Senior Bowl Offensive Player of the Week.

Beck took apart Tennessee with his arm, going 25-of-40 passing for 347 yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He was efficient with his legs too, running for 32 yards on just 3 carries and a 10-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter that gave the Bulldogs the lead for good in an eventual 31-17 victory.

Beck has struggled at times this season, throwing 12 interceptions and drawing criticism from a demanding Georgia fan base. But he’s also thrown for 2,835 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2024, and with a few weeks left in the regular season he has the Bulldogs at 8-2 and in position to get into the College Football Playoff after all.

Georgia is ranked 8th in the latest AP Poll and finishes with home games against Massachusetts and rival Georgia Tech, so Beck has a chance to build up his stats a little more while trying to get the Bulldogs to 10 wins.
