Carson Beck was supposed to be the guy who continued the Georgia dynasty after Stetson Bennett, but his time as the signal caller for Kirby Smart ended with a season-ending shoulder injury in the 2024 SEC Championship and a transfer to Miami.
Not even a year removed from the unceremonious exit from Athens, Beck found himself in the College Football Playoff semifinal against Ole Miss with a trip to the National Championship game on the line.
Very few players can say they have experienced a crazier journey than Beck has, and he sat down with ESPN ahead of the Fiesta Bowl to talk about the whirlwind he’s been through since he left Georgia, and why he chose to join the Canes.
“I felt like I had more to prove, and I felt like Miami was the best place to do that,” Beck said. “It meant everything to me for coach Cristobal to have that confidence in me, and to take that chance on me.”
Beck also touched on the grueling recovery process he had to endure when coming back from that shoulder injury, and that even though the journey has been difficult, he’s extremely proud of how far he’s come.
“It’s been grueling, but it’s been awesome, being able to turn such a negative, impactful moment in my life into a positive is something that I’m really proud of.”
