Carson Palmer knows a thing or two about playing football for the Cincinnati Bengals.

His own departure from Cincinnati was tumultuous, as he ended up retiring rather than play for the Bengals. He then forced a trade to the Raiders.

So, in the aftermath of the Bengals’ Super Bowl loss on Sunday, Palmer is less than confident that his former team will invest in quality players around QB Joe Burrow:

“You look at history and history says they’re happy with where they’re at,” Palmer said. “They’re going to sit pat. But, again, the way things are structured right now, with the salary cap and free agency, they can go and be super-aggressive. Von Miller is a free agent. They could use another pass rusher. … Chandler Jones is out there. … They can go out and attack free agency.”

Will the Bengals actually pursue some big-name free agents? We’ll find out over the next few months.
