Cayden Green, Missouri’s standout left tackle, will reportedly make his return to action Saturday against No. 8 Alabama. Green had missed the past 2 games for the Tigers with a foot injury, but is now set to provide a massive boon for what is Mizzou’s biggest game of the year thus far.
Pete Thamel gave the update Saturday morning ahead of the Tigers’ Week 7 clash with the Crimson Tide.
It’s hard to put into words how massive an update this is for a Tigers team that, despite being 5-0, will have to prove itself against an Alabama squad that is suddenly stacking wins against top 15 opponents. The Tide lost to Florida State to start the season, but have since beaten Georgia and Vanderbilt and look like the team many projected to win the SEC preseason.
Missouri is surprising some people though, and part of that is thanks to a strong offensive line. The Tigers boast the SEC’s top rushing offense this season by a large margin, averaging 292 yards per game. That’s over 75 yards more than 2nd place Arkansas, which is rushing for 213 yards this season.
Green, though he’s missed a few games, is a big part of that production. He’s the 4th highest-rated left tackle in the country per PFF, with a grade of 81.2.
Saturday’s game kicks off at Noon on ABC.
