Cayden Lee announced his plans to enter the transfer portal on Saturday after three seasons at Ole Miss. Over the last two seasons, he has put together some productive performances for the Rebels.

There’s always the possibility of a return, though. And that might depend on what happens with Trinidad Chambliss. Chambliss, of course, filed a suit against the NCAA on Friday after it denied his appeal for a sixth season of eligibility, one that he had promised to use at Ole Miss.

Lee entered the portal a day later. But it appears he has every intention to withdraw his name and remain in Oxford if Chambliss is allowed to return in 2026. According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Lee’s decision to enter the portal is to have a fallback in case Chambliss does not get his sixth year.

Should Chambliss receive a waiver, he and Lee could build on a QB-WR partnership they started in 2025. Deuce Alexander will return, leading receivers Harrison Wallace III and De’Zhaun Stribling are both out of eligibility. The Rebels have added Virginia Tech‘s Isaiah Spencer and Syracuse duo Johntay Cook and Darrell Gill as they look to add to their WR room.

If Lee doesn’t end up coming back to Ole Miss, though, his opportunities will be wide open.
