Tennessee is looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss at Georgia. Meanwhile, Kentucky is riding high after a dominant defensive performance against Mississippi State.
The 2 teams square off in Knoxville on Saturday in a series the Volunteers have dominated. In 115 previous meetings, Tennessee is 81-25-9, but last year’s game was a close affair as the Vols won 17-13.
CBS Sports Network’s “Inside College Football” team took a crack at predicting the result.
“Does Tennessee allow a demoralizing [defeat] to beat them twice? No!” stated Brian Jones.
“In 3 career games against…Kentucky, (Jarrett) Guarantano has 73 percent completion, 0 interceptions,” said Randy Cross, picking Tennessee.
Rick Neuheisel spun a rhyme into his prediction: “Tennessee and Kentucky, two states known for great whiskey. The Vols climb back up Rocky Top with a defense that’s frisky.”
“We had high expectations for both of these teams coming in to the season,” said Aaron Taylor. “The only ones that have kind of reached those have been Tennessee. Vols are going to get themselves off the mat and get the W.”
"This is where we witness the growth! Does Tennessee allow a demoralizing [defeat] to beat them twice? No! Vols win."@JonesN4mo and the ICF crew all pick Tennessee to take down Kentucky, but @SportsLine has Kentucky winning 23-22. pic.twitter.com/Nlip1nx4Oc
