With spring practice in the books, colleges are gearing up to start their summer semesters, a time when college football players are on their own in terms of practicing. For college football fans, it’s a long wait until fall practices start up, and the season eventually gets underway.
Preseason rankings are a big part of the offseason, driving fan debate and media discussion. CBS Sports recently shared its post-spring Top 25. It’s a somewhat top-heavy group from the SEC. All 6 SEC teams featured in the poll are in the top 15. Alabama, the defending SEC champion, and Georgia, the defending national champion, give the conference 2 teams in the top 5.
Here are the 6 SEC teams to make CBS Sports’ post-spring Top 25:
- No. 1 – Alabama
- No. 3 – Georgia
- No. 7 – Texas A&M
- No. 10 – Arkansas
- No. 13 – Ole Miss
- No. 15 – Tennessee
While there won’t be any more televised preseason scrimmages to get a feel for these teams, there are transfers to consider between now and the start of the season. May 1 was the final day for players to enter the NCAA transfer portal and play in 2022 without a waiver. Spring portal entrants will be transferring over the next few weeks to get settled in with their new squads before fall camp starts in August. We’ll see if any major transfers shake up the preseason rankings.
