For the fifth straight year, Alabama will make the College Football Playoff and be one of the four teams with an opportunity to play for the national championship.
At least that’s how the early CBS Sports bowl projections see the 2018 season playing out.
CBS Sports projected every bowl on Thursday, with Alabama being one of 11 SEC teams included in the projections. However, the Crimson Tide were the only conference team projected to be in the College Football Playoff, along with its projected Cotton Bowl opponent Oklahoma, Clemson and Ohio State.
These projections have Georgia not returning to the CFP, but rather playing Texas in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day.
CBS Sports projects that Vanderbilt will be one of two teams playing in bowl games with a 5-7 record.
Here’s every bowl projection from CBS Sports featuring an SEC team:
Cotton Bowl (College Football Playoff semifinal): Alabama vs. Oklahoma
Sugar Bowl: Georgia vs. Texas
Citrus Bowl: Auburn vs. Michigan State
Outback Bowl: Florida vs. Purdue
Gator Bowl: Texas A&M vs. Michigan
Liberty Bowl: Mississippi State vs. Kansas State
Belk Bowl: Missouri vs. Florida State
Music City Bowl: South Carolina vs. Virginia Tech
Texas Bowl: Oklahoma State vs. LSU
Independence Bowl: Vanderbilt vs. Duke
Birmingham Bowl: Arkansas vs. UCF
