Seventeen SEC players were mentioned in CBS Sports’ ranking of the top 50 impact players in college football entering 2016. LSU’s Leonard Fournette, who ranked second overall, was the highest-ranked SEC player, while teammate Arden Key was the lowest at No. 48. Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson topped the list at No. 1 overall.
Most project Watson and Fournette as the top two players in the country, and both will be mentioned all season with the Heisman Trophy.
Seven SEC teams were represented, and Alabama had the most with five players. Tennessee and LSU had the second most with three players listed.
