No. 8 Tennessee will look to improve to 5-0 on the season as it is in Baton Rouge on Saturday for a midday contest against No. 25 LSU.
However, the Volunteers will apparently be without wide receiver Cedric Tillman for this one. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the senior stayed behind in Knoxville as he continues to be on the mend after sufferring a high ankle sprain. He eventually needed minor surgery on Sept. 20 to implant a device to stabilize the ankle and aid in its full recovery.
Thamel reports that Tillman has an eye toward being back on the field in what could be a Top 10 showdown at Neyland Stadium against Alabama on Oct. 15, saying that the wideout is “doing some limited physical activity with the team…and ramping up his activity” in preparation for a return against the Crimson Tide.
Tillman has made 17 catches for 246 yards and a touchdown in 2022. In 2021, he had a breakthrough season, making 64 grabs for 1,081 yards and 12 scores.
Tennessee and LSU are set for a noon ET kickoff on ESPN.
