Cedric Tillman will be unavailable for Tennessee’s SEC East showdown with Florida, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Tillman, a standout wide receiver for the Volunteers, injured his ankle during UT’s win over Akron in Week 3. Thamel writes that with Tennessee having a bye in Week 5, there is optimism for Tillman to return in Week 6 for the Vols’ game against LSU.
Entering the 2022 season, Tillman was the SEC’s leading returning receiver in production (64 catches, 1,081 yards, 12 touchdowns). Tillman, a 2021 All-SEC selection, already has 17 catches for 246 yards and a TD this season, making him UT’s second-leading receiver entering Week 4.
Through the first 3 games, Jalin Hyatt leads all Tennessee wide receivers with 18 receptions for 267 yards and 3 TDs. Fourteen Vols have caught a pass in 2022, with Hyatt and Tillman posting double-digit receptions. Transfer wideout Bru McCoy currently has 8 catches for 109 yards and a TD.
No. 11 Tennessee and No. 20 Florida kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will air on CBS.
