CeeDee Lamb left Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears early after suffering a potentially-serious ankle injury during Cowboys’ 31-14 loss. The Cowboys lined up him as running back, and he got rolled up on by the defender as he was getting tackled.
He visited with the training staff in the blue tent, and actually went back into the game. However, after just one play, he gestured to the sideline and didn’t go back in the rest of the game.
While talking to reporters after the game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that Lamb was able to avoid a serious injury.
“Let’s just keep our fingers crossed,” Jones added.
The Cowboys have major issues on the defensive side of the ball, and are going to need Lamb playing at an elite level this season to compete in games. Before Sunday, he had at least seven catches and 110 yards in every game this season.
While nothing has been confirmed on his injury, the fact that the initial diagnosis isn’t as bad as it could have been is some good news for the Cowboys. Up next for Dallas is a game at home against the Green Bay Packers and former Cowboys star Micah Parsons.
