CFB insider names multiple SEC assistants as possible candidates at Charlotte
News broke Sunday morning that Charlotte had opted to part ways with head football coach Will Healy.
The 49ers are just 1-7 and decided to pull the trigger now instead of waiting for the end of the season, which seems to be a trend this year as a number of FBS openings have already opened up.
Of course, when any job opens, it’s not long before the names of potential candidates emerge.
On Sunday afternoon, college football insider Bruce Feldman tweeted the names of 5 FBS Power 5 assistant coaches that he expects to be under consideration at Charlotte.
The list included a couple of SEC assistants, both from South Carolina: assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Pete Lembo and defensive coordinator Clayton White.
Will Healy has been fired at Charlotte. One of the more attractive G5 jobs is open. FSU's Alex Atkins; NC State's Tony Gibson; UNC's Phil Longo and Gamecocks' Clayton White and Pete Lembo are among a strong group of assistants we expect to be in the mix: https://t.co/7BCvrs9cpe

It’s going to be a busy offseason around the country.
