Even though Johnny Manziel isn’t likely to be the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ Week 1 starter, the former Heisman Trophy winner is still drawing a lot of attention in his first year in the CFL.

The former Texas A&M star is even having an impact on the league’s television schedule, as TSN will air the Ticats’ last preseason game on Saturday.

According to CFL.ca, there’s a chance Manziel starts the preseason finale, as the current starter will likely rest:

While the Alouettes’ duel for first-string quarterback continues — with Drew Willy and Matthew Shiltz in contention for the starting job — there’s a chance Johnny Manziel will start for the Ticats as regular starter Jeremiah Masoli is expected to sit.

Manziel had a solid performance in his first action with Hamilton, so it’ll be interesting to see how long Masoli remains the starter.

The Tiger-Cats finished the season 6-12 last year, so perhaps Manziel could be the shot of life the team needs.
