Arkansas’ bye week came late in 2018, giving the 2-7 Razorbacks a week off before gearing up for the final three games of the season.

Meeting with the media Monday, Hogs coach Chad Morris shared how his team handled the bye week and previewed the upcoming rivalry clash with LSU.

As for as the bye week, Morris revealed that the Razorbacks had three scrimmages of roughly 20 minutes each last week. He believed it helped with the development of the team’s younger players.

As for the veterans, Morris said he felt the bye helped the team recharge and “get their legs back under them.” He knows the seniors are excited to face division rival LSU in their last game in Razorback Stadium.

Morris noted that he quickly learned the Battle for the Golden Boot is important to Hogs fans.

“There was no question that this game stood out among my traveling circuit,” Morris told reporters. “This was a big talking point, this game. You got a sense real quick that this was a big rival game. I knew that coming in.”

Not only is it a big game, but Morris noted that it is a key recruiting win. He said he’s excited for the Razorbacks recruits to get to experience a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff. He also mentioned his hope to sign the majority of the class early.

“I anticipate on December 19th to sign the majority of our class,” Morris said.

Morris also noted that it will be his first time coaching in a night game at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, something he is looking forward to.

As far as injuries, Morris said he anticipates Kevin Richardson, Dre Greenlaw and Jared Cornelius to be back. Jeremy Patton, meanwhile, is “not ready to go.” Devwah Whaley will continue to be evaluated.
