If you missed the tragic news over the weekend, former Texas and Ole Miss quarterback Jevan Snead died in Austin. He was 32.

Snead’s passing is currently under investigation by the Austin police without a cause of death being publicly released at this time.

If you were unaware, Snead played at Stephenville High School for Chad Morris. Snead was one of the nation’s highest-rated passers coming out of Stephenville in the 2006 recruiting class before signing with Mack Brown’s Texas program. Snead eventually left Texas for Ole Miss, where he started for the Rebels.

During his Monday afternoon press conference, Morris was asked to share his thoughts on Snead’s passing.

“Yeah, it was very difficult phone call,” Morris said. “Very much, thoughts and prayers go to his family, his mom and dad and his brother and sister, nieces and nephews. Very near and dear to our heart, Paula and I and our family, Chandler and Mackenzie. He was like a son to us and it was… it’s tough. But my thoughts and prayers are with his family right now.”
