Chase Hayden has made his transfer decision and it’s an interesting one.

The former Arkansas running back made the decision to leave Fayetteville following the program’s hire of Sam Pittman as the new head coach. While Hayden’s decision likely didn’t have much to do with the fact Pittman would have been his new coach, the hire would have marked the third head coach Hayden would have played for in four seasons on The Hill.

In need of a change of scenery, Hayden has decided he will play for East Carolina in 2020. This news was first reported by Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.

Hayden is a graduate transfer, making him eligible immediately next season and has two seasons left to play after he redshirted in 2019. During his three seasons on the field for the Razorbacks, Hayden had 616 rushing yards and five touchdowns as well as 16 catches for 96 yards.

The addition of Hayden marks the second former SEC player to transfer to ECU in recent days as former Alabama defensive back Nigel Knott announced last week that he plans to finish out his collegiate career with the Pirates. Knott also has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Chase is a native of Memphis, Tenn., and his the son of former Tennessee running back Aaron Hayden. His younger brother Dallan is a rising 2022 prospect and holds offers from the likes of Tennessee, Florida and Florida State.
