Chicago Bears OC explains why former Tennessee OL Darnell Wright is an ‘unbelievable’ prospect

Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy met with reporters Saturday to discuss the Bears’ recent draft picks, including former Tennessee standout Darnell Wright.
Wright was the best offensive lineman of the Josh Heupel era thus far. He did not allow a sack in 2022, facing off against the very best the SEC has to offer. Some considered his selection at No. 9 a reach for the Bears, but nobody in Knoxville would share that sentiment. Wright was as reliable as a college tackle can come.
Getsy praised Wright over and over Saturday, calling him “unbelievable” on multiple occasions. Here’s what he had to say about the former Tennessee star.
#Bears OC Luke Getsy on Darnell Wright: “It’s unique for someone that big to be able to bend and be as explosive as he is. It’s hard to come around guys that are that big, that long — the length is unbelievable. The power is unbelievable.”

Chicago needs help on the offensive line in a desperate way. Quarterback Justin Fields has only been able to scratch the surface of what he can do in the NFL, partly because he has been running for his life seemingly every snap since being drafted out of Ohio State 2 years ago.
Wright is a huge addition, figuratively and literally, to help Fields get into some sort of rhythm with a clean pocket. All signs point to the former Vol being a star in the NFL for years to come.
