Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game announces honorary captains for Alabama, Duke

A former Alabama standout will be back with the Crimson Tide for Saturday’s season opener.
On Thursday, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game announced the honorary captains for Saturday’s game between Alabama and Duke. Calvin Ridley will represent the Crimson Tide at midfield for the pregame coin toss, while Jamison Crowder will have the honor for the Blue Devils.
Ridley played wide receiver for Alabama from 2015-17. He was a first-team All-SEC selection in his final season with the Tide, and he finished second in program history in receptions (224) and receiving touchdowns (19) as well as third in receiving yards (2,781).
After leaving Alabama, Ridley was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft. In his rookie season, he had 64 receptions for 821 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Alabama is playing Duke for the first time since 2010, and it’s opening its season in Atlanta for the sixth time. The Crimson Tide has never lost in their five previous Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game appearances.
The Crimson Tide and Blue Devils will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
