Former Georgia tight end Orson Charles was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs, the team announced Thursday.
Following his career at Georgia (2009-2011), Charles was drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, and he was moved to fullback prior to the start of the 2013 season. He caught eight passes for 101 yards during his rookie season.
Charles played with the Detroit Lions last season. He didn’t record a reception but did play 31 special teams snaps. During his NFL career, he’s caught just nine passes for 109 yards, and he’ll wear No. 85 for the Chiefs. Charles also was a member of the Saints practice squad in 2014.
During his three-year career at Georgia, Charles caught a total of 94 passes for 1,370 yards and 10 touchdowns.
