It appears Kentucky may soon have a replacement for Steve Clinkscale.

Mark Stoops has an opening on his Wildcat coaching staff after Clinkscale left for Michigan but credit the Kentucky coach for working quickly to potentially make a hire prior to the start of the busy recruiting period, which is set to open up on June 1.

According to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, Georgia State safeties coach and recruiting coordinator Chris Collins has emerged as the “front-runner” to replace Clinkscale in Lexington.

Collins has been on staff at Georgia State since 2017. After taking over as Georgia State’s recruiting coordinator, the first class signed by the Panthers had the highest average player ranking in program history.

Collins was also named to the American Football Coaches Association 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute back in 2018.
