Ahead of the first College Football Playoff ranking reveal, the SEC Network’s Chris Doering and Bejamin Watson broke down the SEC angle of the rankings.

For Doering, Alabama is the most interesting team to watch. The Tide obviously have a loss on their schedule, but a few signature wins could propel them to a top 4 appearance.

“Bama is the team that I think is the most interesting,” Doering said. “Obviously a big game on the horizon, but they are a team that’s gotten better and better as the season’s gone one.”

The Tide will face LSU next week in a game that could define their CFP future.

“I think a Bama team has a good argument — and obviously next week LSU will make a big difference in that — to be one of those 5, 6 teams that might not be in the top 4, but is poised right there if they can keep winning, they’ll be in,” Watson said.

There’s not question that Georgia will be in the top 4 on Tuesday, but there are questions of whether the Bulldogs will be No. 1 or not. Watson believes Georgia’s strength of schedule might keep it from having the No. 1 spot.

“I don’t think the committee is going to have them at No. 1 because of strength of schedule all these other sorts of things, but they’re still No. 1,” Watson said.
