With Lee Corso getting set for his final College GameDay appearance soon, there’s some hilarious stories rolling out about the legendary broadcaster. A pair of Corso’s former GameDay colleagues recently chatted about an epic moment.

During Chris Fallica’s appearance on David Pollack’s See Ball Get Ball, he revealed the story of how Corso crowned him with “The Bear” nickname.

“It dates back to like 2003 when Kirk and I were having lunch. Lee walks in after his morning walk. ‘Yo! Chris Fallica, Kirk Herbstreit. How you guys doing? He looks at the table. He looks at Kirk. He looks at the table again. Then he looks at me,” Fallica said. “‘Look at you, Fallica. Just like a bear. You eat, you sleep, you [expletive]. You take another nap. You eat again. You’re just a bear.’ So that’s how The Bear nickname came.”

Classic Corso. The way Fallica vividly painted the picture, you can almost feel like you were in the room for the brash coronation.

After spending almost 30 years at ESPN, Fallica is currently working at FOX Sports as a betting analyst. Fallica became a household name alongside Corso and the rest of the GameDay crew where he began as a research producer.
