Chris Jones and the Kansas City faithful weren’t happy when the Chiefs star was rung up on a roughing the passer penalty late in the 1st half of their game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night.

Jones, the former Mississippi State standout, appeared to force a fumble on a sack of Derek Carr on a 3rd-and-8 from the Las Vegas 46 yard line. It looked as if Jones had recovered the football for the Chiefs, but a penalty marker was thrown and he was called for roughing the passer. The Raiders ultimately made it 20-7 on a Daniel Carlson 50-yard field goal.

Take a look, though, and see for yourself what “roughing the passer” is apparently considered in today’s NFL:

The NFL has made countless claims that it’s putting player safety at a premium, which has come under the microscope in the wake of how the Miami Dolphins handled the Tua Tagovailoa situation. But after the call against the Falcons on Sunday after what appeared to be a legal tackle of Tom Brady, and now with what happened with Jones on Monday, it’s safe to say that things have gotten more than a bit silly.
