Chris Jones misses start of Kansas City Chiefs training camp, per report
Chris Jones reportedly did not show up to Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Saturday was the first day that the rest of the team was supposed to report to training camp.
Jones and Kansas City are trying to negotiate a contract extension, but Schefter reported that the two sides are “far apart” on a new deal.
Jones played at Mississippi State from 2013-2015.

The Chiefs selected Jones in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He has played with the team his entire NFL career.
Last season, Jones was a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year. He recorded 44 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 15.5 sacks in 17 games played last season.
It’ll be interesting to see how long Jones decides to hold out on a new contract extension. Time is ticking with the regular season beginning in September.
If Jones and the Chiefs can’t agree on a contract extension, the star DT could be on a new team for the 2023 season. Jones has rarely missed a game since joining the NFL.
Kansas City’s season opener will be against the Detroit Lions on Sept. 7 on Thursday Night Football. That will have an 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff and be shown on NBC.
Saturday Down South will keep you updated on Jones’ next move.
