Chris Mortensen provides update on Matt Corral’s injury, how it may impact his NFL Draft stock

Chris Mortensen is dialed in with NFL sources, so now that Ole Miss QB Matt Corral has played his final game for the Rebels, NFL scouts are looking into whether their teams should draft him or not.
Unfortunately, Corral’s season ended with an ankle injury in the Sugar Bowl on Saturday night.
But, according to Mortensen, the injury isn’t expected to be as serious as it appeared. Mortensen tweeted that sources told him the injury was “not as serious as the optics”:
Ole Miss QB Matt Corral's injury has been consistently described as an ankle by several sources. An MRI should clarify the extent of damage.
One source: Not as serious as the optics.
The caution is with the MRI but four GMs this morning did not believe draft status will change.— Chris Mortensen (@mortreport) January 2, 2022
As for how the injury will impact Corral’s draft stock, Mortensen said it’ll depend on whether or not he’s healthy enough to participate in the NFL Combine and a Pro Day:
That draft status is fluid, regardless, either as a first round or second day pick, a GM noted.
He will have the Scouting Combine in late Feb/early March as well as a Pro Day to show he's healed up, if it is indeed only an ankle.
Corral has plenty of game film to evaluate.— Chris Mortensen (@mortreport) January 2, 2022
Corral is getting serious first-round buzz, so hopefully he’s healthy enough to show his skills over the next couple of months.
