Chris ‘The Bear’ Fallica defends SEC scheduling as B1G gears up for cupcake-heavy slate in Week 3

The Big Ten-SEC strife is endless. Both conferences think they’re the preeminent powerhouse of college football. The Big Ten believes the SEC is overrated and propped up; the SEC says its proof of greatness is in the long-term pudding. Chris “The Bear” Fallica considers them to be one in the same.

On Tuesday, Fallica took to social media and blasted the Big Ten for its horrific Week 3 schedule. Ten of the conference’s 13 schools not playing Big Ten foes this week are favored to win their upcoming game by at least 21.5 points, per ESPN Bet. The only exceptions are UCLA (-15.5), Wisconsin (+21.5) and Minnesota (-1.5).

Fallica dove into the specifics about the Big Ten being the pot that called the kettle (the SEC) black later in his thread. He claimed Week 3 is the “Big Ten’s version” of the SEC’s November matchups with inferior opponents. While he wishes that neither conference had weeks like these in their schedules, he gave the SEC props for the timing of theirs for “breaking up the conference grind.”

Nobody enjoys these sorts of “battles” like they do an Oregon-Ohio State or Alabama-LSU showdown. Big Ten fans will point out that the SEC’s 8 conference games — compared to their 9 — is a major difference between the two conferences. The Big Ten just adopted 9 conference games for the first time in 2025, though, and the SEC is moving to 9 conference games in 2026. While 2025 may be a temporary exception, Fallica is right in his assertion about the two groups being similar. To pretend otherwise is disingenuous.
