Alabama coasted to a 52-3 victory over Arkansas on Saturday, but the win came at a cost.
Sophomore linebacker Christian Harris exited the game after sustaining a shoulder injury on the first play on defense for the Crimson Tide and did not return.
On Sunday, during the coaches’ teleconference before Dec. 19’s SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, Alabama head coach Nick Saban confirmed the injury to Harris, while opening the door to the possibility of him being available for the game against Florida.
“He’s got a chance to play. We’ll just have to see how he progresses this week,” Saban said.
Harris has enjoyed a dynamic 2nd year in Tuscaloosa. The Baton Rouge, La., native has recorded 65 tackles, 5.0 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks as he has picked up right where he left off after being pressed into action last year in his first season.
Even without Harris, the Tide have plenty of weapons on both sides of the ball that could make things miserable for the Gators. That being said, having Harris in the fold will be an obvious plus for a defense that has flexed its muscle down the stretch. In their last 7 games, they have allowed just 77 points.
