The Florida Gators have filled their vacancy for the director of player personnel position.
Dan Mullen has hired Virginia Tech’s director of player personnel Chuck Cantor, as he announced his intentions via Twitter (below).
UF lost E.K. Franks to Kentucky recently. Franks left Florida to become the Wildcats’ personnel and recruiting director. Franks originally replaced Drew Hughes at Florida, as Hughes left Gainesville to join Jeremy Pruitt’s staff at Tennessee earlier this off-season. So, the Gators have had some turnover in this position recently.
Personnel directors are key to coaching staffs. They help evaluate players and are crucial to recruiting efforts. Cantor has been with Virginia Tech for four seasons, and he oversaw all aspects of the football recruiting process. Prior to Virginia Tech, Cantor was key in helping Georgia land its “Dream Team” 2011 recruiting class. He also worked at Middle Tennessee and Rutgers.
