Citrus Bowl plans to enhance fan experience through smartphones in bowls
For those who will be at the Russell Athletic Bowl tonight to see North Carolina vs. Baylor or those going to the Citrus Bowl this Friday to see Florida vs. Michigan, you’ll be in for an extra treat.
In a story by The Orlando Sentinel, Florida Citrus Sports — which is hosting both games in the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando — has teamed with a local tech firm to feed fans more live content.
That’s because CEO Steve Hogan is afraid of the smartphone surge that’s taken place recently. Basically, the goal is to prevent you from playing Candy Crush or using some other mobile app while you’re supposed to be dialed into the football game you paid for.
Florida Citrus Sports has looked into a relationship with tech startup imediaReach, which resides at the University of Central Florida and is home to only a handful of employees.
Its goal is to enhance the game experience from where you’re sitting in the stands by providing things such as statistics, replays and more.
Be on the lookout if you’re attending one of those games.
