Former Florida DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson is out indefinitely for the Philadelphia Eagles after lacerating his kidney during a Sunday Night Football win against the Green Bay Packers. The injury is not expected to be season-ending, though it is non-surgical.
That’s a rough diagnosis for both Gardner-Johnson and the Eagles. Depending on how serious the laceration is, Gardner-Johnson could be out at least a month or miss just a few games. So it seems the Eagles will be down a starter as they attempt to gun for a 1-seed in the NFC.

It’s a non-surgical injury. Testing is ongoing, so timetable still TBD, but it is not expected to be season-ending.

Gardner-Johnson spent his first 3 years in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints before starting his first year in Philadelphia in 2022. He’s played well for the Eagles, totaling 60 tackles, 6 interceptions and 1 sack.
His 6 interceptions are the most of any player in the league this season.
