CJ Stroud tells Cam Newton ‘Auburn sucks,’ weighs in on future of Iron Bowl rivalry without Nick Saban
CJ Stroud gave his take on the Auburn-Alabama rivalry in the post-Nick Saban era while on the 4th and 1 with Cam Newton show this week.
Newton and Stroud had a brief exchange over the future of the Iron Bowl rivalry and Auburn’s place in college football moving forward.
“I’m not worried about you, Auburn sucks,” Stroud said after Newton brought up Ohio State.
Newton claimed that Auburn has “a chance” now that Saban has retired. Stroud was quick to dismiss that idea from the legendary Auburn quarterback.
“No, no, no,” Stroud responded. “Bama own that. Come on.”
Here’s video of the exchange:

This exchange was part of a larger conversation about Stroud’s rookie season in Houston. He led the Texans to the playoffs and took home Offensive Rookie of the Year honors after throwing for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns on the season.
Auburn nearly upset Alabama last year, as the Tide needed a miracle 4th down conversion to defeat the Tigers in the closing minutes of the Iron Bowl back in November. Alabama has won 4 straight games in this series.
The 2024 Iron Bowl is set for Nov. 30 in Tuscaloosa.
