Needing a strong performance to try to take some pressure off himself, Tennessee coach Butch Jones had exactly the opposite on Saturday afternoon, presiding over the Vols’ blowout 41-0 home loss to Georgia.

Now, many are speculating that the end may be near for the Vols coach, and Outkick the Coverage’s Clay Travis is certainly among those who think Jones’s performance on Saturday deserves to get him a pink slip.

As you can read in Travis’s impassioned rant against Jones here, he lists six candidates to replace Jones, and they are:

  1. Chip Kelly
  2. Bob Stoops
  3. Bobby Petrino
  4. Mike Leach
  5. Jeff Brohm
  6. Jim Bob Cooter

Outside of Cooter and perhaps Petrino, those are all lofty goals for Tennessee, as there’s no indication Stoops will coach again, Brohm would have a hefty buyout at Purdue and Leach has shown no interest in leaving Washington State as of yet.

Meanwhile, no one is particularly sure what Kelly’s thought process is, but there aren’t many pieces in Knoxville and Kelly may be able to land a better job.

Again, Jones hasn’t been fired as of now, but if that does change, it will certainly be interesting to see which candidates emerge to replace him.
