The evidence continues to mount pointing toward a reunion of Georgia and Clemson on the gridiron during the regular season.

First, it was Dabo Swinney who noted his interest in the game. Then it was Georgia AD Greg McGarity who said he envisions the two schools meeting in the future and now Clemson’s AD Dan Radakovich has confirmed that he is exchanging messages with his counterpart in Athens.

“Greg and I actually texted back-and-forth today, and like he said we are looking to try and get a game together here shortly,” Radakovich said according to Will Vandervort of The Clemson Insider. “Now, shortly is defined inside of football scheduling shortly. So we are looking to do that.

“I think there is a desire to play on both sides parts, as Coach (Dabo) Swinney has talked about it and even Kirby (Smart) has said that as well.”

Considering the two schools are only roughly 80 miles apart from each other, they make for natural rivals. That’s before you even consider the two as budding juggernauts of the college football landscape. Interestingly enough, the two programs have an extensive history against each other.

While the two schools have only met four times since 1995, Georgia and Clemson have met a total of 64 times in their histories. That’s quite the high number when you consider the Bulldogs have met SEC East rival Tennessee a total of 47 times.

With UGA and Clemson both having their non-conference schedules mostly filled up for the immediate future, a game between the two seems most likely to be set in 2021 — at the earliest. Either way, if and when the series is set, it projects to be one of the most anticipated future non-conference games in all of college football.
