On Tuesday, an incident from 3 years ago was made public. It involved Clemson assistant coach Danny Pearman using the N-word while on the practice field in the vicinity of TE D.J. Greenlee.
Greenlee spoke about the incident with The State, explaining what happened and adding that Pearman apologized several times that season.
On Tuesday night, Clemson issued a statement from Pearman on the matter. Here’s the statement from Pearman, as tweeted by Clemson reporter Grace Raynor:
“I love the young men who choose to come to our university, and I would never do anything to intentionally hurt them,” the end of Pearman’s statement reads. “I sincerely apologize to D.J., his family, our team and our staff.”
