Clemson backup QB announces he has entered the transfer portal

After three seasons at Clemson, Tigers backup QB Chase Brice is exploring his options. Brice tweeted Thursday that he is entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
With starter Trevor Lawrence entering his true junior season in 2020 and class of 2020 5-star quarterback DJ Uiagalelei signing with Clemson last month, it makes sense for Brice to look around at other options.
Over the past two seasons, Brice has thrown 136 passes, completing 82 for 1,023 yards, 9 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
A Grayson (Georgia) product, Brice was a 3-star pro-style prospect on the 247Sports Composite for the class of 2017. Coming out of high school, Brice’s only SEC offers came from Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Mike Bobo, now the offensive coordinator at South Carolina, tried to recruit Brice to Colorado State. Brice committed to Clemson on Dec. 16, 2015.
Brice may have already revealed his transfer destination. On Tuesday afternoon, Brice tweeted about changing his Twitter profile picture to a childhood photo of him sporting a Georgia jersey with former Bulldogs QB Quincy Carter’s number. Brice deleted the tweet shortly after posting it.
As a grad transfer, Brice will have immediate eligibility in 2020.
