Texas A&M may have lost to No. 2 Clemson on Saturday night, but the Aggies certainly played a close game that could have ended the other way.

The Tigers won after a controversial touchback call against the Aggies in the final minutes. It’s easy to see a scenario where Texas A&M ends up the victors, instead of losing, 28-26.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was impressed with the Aggies when he spoke to the media after the game.

“Really proud of our team, man. What a dogfight,” Swinney said. “Shame somebody has to lose that game when you see two teams that play with such great will to win. Hats off to A&M. What an awesome environment. I mean, just awesome. Their fans were great.  Their team played with Very fortunate to win the game.”

Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond had an impressive performance, passing for 430 yards and three touchdowns.

“When I watched Kellen Mond on tape, I knew he was gonna be a tough out, and he was,” Swinney told the media. “What a game. Defense didn’t go a great job containing him. Even when he had the perfect call, we would get pressure on his right shoulder, he’d spin out and next thing you know, he’s throwing a touchdown pass. He’s a heck of a player.”

After the competitive loss, Texas A&M will look to bounce back next week when it takes on Louisiana-Monroe in another home game at Kyle Field.
