So long as Kirby Smart is in Athens, Cole Cubelic wholly rejects the idea that the Georgia Bulldogs could possibly finish the 2026 season 7-5 or worse.

On McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning on Monday, Cubelic responded to Greg McElroy’s prompt that, worst-case scenario, the Bulldogs finish 7-5. Cubelic responded with, “But that’s Kirby Smart coaching Georgia, that is not the worst-case scenario. We would have seen it.”

He continued just a few moments later, “I’m going to tell you right now, into this microphone, into this camera on YouTube. The Georgia Bulldogs cannot go 7-5. It cannot happen.”

Smart has posted one regular season at 7-5 before – his first season taking over for Mark Richt, which wasn’t really his roster anyway. The Bulldogs ended that season 8-5 with a Liberty Bowl victory.

Since then, Georgia has put together a different monster entirely, one that makes it pretty tough to disagree with Cubelic’s point. Not to mention, Gunner Stockton is set to return in 2026, as well as a good portion of the offensive and defensive lines.

It’s tough to find 5 losses on Georgia’s schedule right now. Even if the Bulldogs lose to Oklahoma, Alabama, Ole Miss and Florida, for example, they’d still have to lose to one of Vanderbilt (without Diego Pavia), South Carolina, Mizzou, Arkansas, Georgia Tech or a cupcake non-conference opponent. It’s easier to lump Ole Miss and Florida in with the teams listed in the second category, too.

According to Kalshi, the Bulldogs have a 26% chance to win the SEC in 2026, the best odds in the conference. Check out the full list here:
