Cole Cubelic reveals full SEC takeaways following Week 14

Cole Cubelic, as he does every week, released his full post-Week 14 SEC takeaways early Monday morning. We now have a slightly better idea of just what the College Football Playoff will look like, with all but a few spots seemingly locked up heading into the CFP rankings show on Tuesday.
Georgia, Texas and Tennessee had spectacular weekends, all seemingly punching their ticket to the College Football Playoff with rivalry wins over Georgia Tech, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt, respectively.
Alabama also had a strong game, as Cubelic points out below. The Tide stayed alive in the hunt for a Playoff spot with a dominant win over Auburn to shake off last week’s poor showing against Oklahoma.
Cubelic also liked what he saw from South Carolina. The Gamecocks are right there with Ole Miss and Alabama in the running for a Playoff spot, but their path seems unlikely with losses to both the Tide and Rebels on their resume.
Here’s a a look at Cubelic’s thoughts on each SEC program from Week 14.
ARKANSAS: Not easy to stay in front on defense in those conditions. Cut back hurt them. 5 really good in the middle. 40 disruptive, hated seeing him go out. 30 & 22 played well. Don’t really affect the QB. Got out of rush lanes late. Hate quick game going early. Couldn’t protect…

FLORIDA: Secures winning season. First since 2020. 8 sacks & 5 takeaways will get a W most nights. Lot of success running outside tackles. RBs shifty but ran with authority. Nice use of motion & misdirection. QB movement insane. Feels rush before it’s a real threat. Tough to get…

KENTUCKY: Looked like run game was going to roll early. Plan was nice. Mixed up gap scheme, zone, duo. 10 was finding space. He ran well but can’t put the ball on the ground. QB locked on to WRs & that led to picks. Just appeared to know where he was going & defense stepped in…

MISSISSIPPI STATE: Fought hard. Def did a nice job occupying space. Disrupted up front early. Safety mid fit long run. Got a nice pick later. 8 & 9 both disruptive. 44 played through blocks well. Coverage better than expected. Had chances to get QB down & missed. Out of gaps a…

OKLAHOMA: Tough loss. Wondered after everything that went into last week & how the calendar worked if they could get close to that. Waited a while to get QB run going. His legs are the primary weapon offensively. Have to just chuck a few down the field. Did use 13 speed once.…

SOUTH CAROLINA: Huge win to stay in the hunt. Clutch plays late. QB just flat balled. Escapability off the charts. He’s a wizard in the pocket. OL strained but gave up some penetration. 76 played hard. Cut back on zone scheme were nice. Ball security still an issue. They went…

TEXAS: Massive win for the program for obvious reasons. Love the formations. Love the movements. Guards spent large portion of the day pulling, some was good, some was bad. Missed a few pressures, too much slide still. 26 dynamic. Getting him in space while handing the ball off…

VANDERBILT: Tough one. Not the best matchup. Couldn’t get to the QB. Drop 8 wasn’t working. Struggled fitting gap scheme. Effort was solid. 4 played hard. 10 had good run thru success at times. Allowed run after catch. Lost receivers off play action. Couldn’t get off field on 3rd…
