Cole Cubelic is a regular at Alabama’s practices. On Thursday, the SEC Network analyst came back with a funny Nick Saban story leading up to the showdown vs. Texas.
During practice on Thursdays, Alabama is known to crank up the volume to replicate crowd noise. However, Saban also cracked another reason for that to Cubelic.

“He’s like: ‘Hey Cole, what’s up? He shakes my hand. He says: ‘I didn’t see you down with the O-line’. I said: ‘I guess that hadn’t really changed this year even though you’re expecting that group to be pretty good.’ Then he’s like: ‘Well I didn’t see you down with the DBs.'” Cubelic said. “I said: ‘No I walked down there. I couldn’t hear anything because of all the crowd noise. So I didn’t know if you were coaching them up, making them any better or not.'”
That’s when Saban playfully jabbed Cubelic.
“He goes: ‘Yeah, we do that on purpose when you come here. We get that noise cranked up because your double agent ass in here trying to spy on us and see what’s going on.’ He gives me this big grin and he walks away,” Cubelic said. “Everybody’s just dying laughing. It’s funny because he has a much better sense of humor than people would believe.”
