On Saturday, 10 of the 14 SEC teams were in action, with South Carolina, Kentucky, Texas A&M and Ole Miss as the idle squads.
There were some wild games, with Florida’s College Football Playoff hopes going on life support, Alabama utterly dominating Arkansas and Georgia looking like an elite squad.
Every Sunday, SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic takes to Twitter to share his thoughts on each team that played the previous day. Below, you can see his takeaways from each team that played in Week 12:
ARKANSAS:
Appreciate the fight. Been that way all season. OL just couldn't hold up. Needed more time. QB needed to get ball out. 42 solid up front, caused some problems early. Can build around 1 for the next few years. The foundation is being laid. Expectations exceeded for 2020— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) December 13, 2020
FLORIDA:
Just a brutal game. Mental mistakes everywhere. Turnovers can't happen. No push up front. Best run play was the draw. Out of place too often on defense. Then the obvious mistake late. Great teams go take those games. This team helped give it away. 1 was incredible.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) December 13, 2020
LSU:
Guess sticking around to finish things can be pretty damn cool. Guess O can still coach. Guess the culture isn't dead. Got run going, 70 was nice. Got turnovers, 1 was great. Tackled well for the most part. 14 has some shit to him, just gets it, knows how to operate. BIG W— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) December 13, 2020
MISSOURI:
Couldn't hold up vs the run. In position down the field but missed some plays. Had to have the Roundtree go early & just couldn't find it. Improvement & buy in is there. Just overmatched. Needed the ball more & couldn't convert on 3rd down. Chance to finish up strong.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) December 13, 2020
VANDERBILT:
Fuller has provided much needed positives. Numbers are super low. Just grinding through but credit for doing so. Seals flashed a little, needs help. He & Brooks give some hope. Mintze impressive. Lot of souls searching ahead for this program….— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) December 13, 2020
There’s still 1 week of SEC action to go. The conference title game is this coming Saturday between Alabama and Florida, but some other teams in the league will be making up previously postponed games, too. Tune in next Sunday for some more of Cubelic’s takeaways!
