Cole Deeds has decided not to stick around for the Mike Leach era at Mississippi State.

The freshman kicker from Fairhope, Ala., announced on Tuesday that he is transferring to Austin Peay to continue his collegiate playing career.

“Excited to announce I’ll be transferring to Austin Peay State! Time to get to work,” he posted on Twitter.

If you were unaware, former Mississippi State special teams coordinator Mark Hudspeth now serves as the head coach at Austin Peay.

While no team wants to lose depth, the Bulldogs remain in good hands at the kicker position thanks to rising senior Jace Christmann, who converted on eight of his 10 field goal attempts last season and 32 of 40 field goal attempts in his first three seasons in Starkville.
