Colin Cowherd makes case for Joe Burrow to be NFL’s MVP

Colin Cowherd isn’t afraid to stir things up on his daily show, “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”

On Thursday, he set his sights on the NFL’s MVP race, where many consider Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to be the leader, with Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady in the second position.

But, Cowherd says red-hot Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow, the former LSU Heisman winner, should be the frontrunner for the award:

“Joe Burrow should be MVP,” he said. “He should be. Joe Burrow has less talent (around him), he beats Aaron Rodgers in completion percentage. Aaron has fewer picks, touchdown passes the same. He gets more passing yards per game, over a yard more an attempt. … Joe has less talent, a younger roster, it’s a losing franchise and in a significantly tougher division. … Burrow leads the NFL with 15 touchdowns over 30 years. Fifteen! Aaron has 2.”

Will NFL MVP voters feel the same way? Burrow is being held out by the Bengals in Week 18, as their playoff position is already locked in. Rodgers also likely won’t play, as the Packers have secured the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

We’ll see how the MVP race shakes out as the regular season draws to an end.
